James Barbour Letter, 19 December 1842.

19 December 1842 letter from James Barbour, Jr. in Tallahassee, Fla. to John A. Jacobs, secretary of the Danville Deaf and Dumb Asylum in Danville, Ky. Letter concerns monetary and land grants that the asylum received from the government. Specifically, the letter details Barbour's efforts to track down properties, deeds, bonds, and people in Florida where the land grants were located. Barbour mentions conversations he had with territorial governors William Duval and Richard Call, and future Florida Sec. of State B.F. Allen regarding raising money for the asylum. Barbour also discusses problems with Judge Allen's estate in Jackson County, Fla.
